Prada
“I’m tired of talking about ideas, let’s talk about clothes”, Miuccia Prada presented during Milan fashion week, a collection around the 60s up till the 90s, underlining it’s craftsmanship and ancestral techniques – going back to the brand’s starting point – witnessed through both printed and metal fringes in skirts made of materials such as worn leather and velvet. What trends did the luxury fashion house showed off? Fitted silhouettes, wide shoulders, high-waisted or pleated micro-mini shorts and sleeveless organza dresses.
Gucci
Hand in hand with the desire to recover the Gucci’s true essence, grounded on an all-time vigorous storytelling and liberating self-confidence and assurance, the new creative director of the luxury brand, Sabato De Sarno, revealed the brand’s strongest ADN elements across it’s characteristic green and red tones as well as its well-known monogram seen in hoodies as well as other garments. We saw refined loose silhouettes, low-rise tank tops, ‘hot pants’ or short shorts, dresses with rhinestones and cord-tied shirts. Likewise, some of the fashion trends that Gucci presented – also seen at New York and London fashion weeks – were silver hardware, metallic fringes, exaggerated collars, uniform-like set outfits inspired by tennis and a lot of transparent lace.
Tom Ford
“Glamour, sensuality, elegance and beauty. It is very important to bring women and men closer so that they are a universe through a new combination of elements that are impressive and beautiful at the same time.” Peter Hawkings – new creative director
Through similar textiles, unbuttoned shirts, shorts and velvet trouser suits, among others, the Milan Fashion Week Tom Ford show outfits proved to be part of the genderless trend; reintegrating unique pieces from the brand such as the engraved belt buckle seen at the Ford for Gucci show in spring.
MSGM
“The spirit of the collection was born from collisions, accidents and crashes of all my passions: art, music, design.” Creative Director, Massimo Giorgetti
Under a cheerful rhythm, knotted blouses, mini dresses with ribbons, crochet embroidered roses, balloon miniskirts, large shoulder pads, cargo pants and details similar to pixelated brushstrokes, MSGM made it clear why it is known as one of the most optimistic and fun brands in fashion.
