An image-maker that I call the Creative Director of her own life. Organized, simple, and creative, Andrea Swarz is the person behind the scenes who studied Plastic Arts in Paris. Her road began with the idea of studying design and fashion style, having received the influence of a creative family as one of its members. The only clear thing on the road from the beginning was her love for photography, which she exercised in at every moment in her life.
The big leap happened in 2010 when she photographed and styled her sister, and those photos became a sensation. It was at that moment that fashion style-driven photography became the most important thing in Andrea’s life. By taking photography courses in Cali, her hometown, photography became her career; this way, she made her name a brand of its own.
Since 2013, she has been working full time: “besides photography, I love the creative direction and design of the entire project”, she says. Step by step, she works with the brands; she gets to know the designer, its fashion style and the product to then create the storytelling. The way she generates ideas to relate the history of the brand and fashion trends is by brainstorming with her team on every element of the photographic session.
She currently works with brands such as Arkitect from Colombia, and has a strong inclination towards emerging brands which gives the possibility of creating the first impression to the public. In the future, she wishes to be part of international communication agencies to expand her brand portfolio.
“I have a timeless style because ‘I love that when I work on a project, after a long time I still fall in love with it’”.
What makes you successful?
“Perseverance and constant improvement: not staying in the same spot by outdoing myself in the projects.” She emphasizes on the importance of having a style of your own and to maintain it over time. She mentions the great development of the Colombian brand Ballen Pelleterie, her preference for international brands such as Chloé and Uterqüe, and she also states that “not all brands now have the potential” to create a fashion style.
